Advertising Using Social Media

Coca Cola seems to me to be using social media by trying to draw in college aged and school age people with a story of young romance. It plays a story and you have to keep checking back for the next episode to see what happens. It also tries to get you pulled in by bringing you into the scenario, of “finding out who you should be with”.

It seems to be working because there are a lot of followers. I myself would be not interested at all, as I feel this type of marketing is a waste of my time and rather dumb. But obviously, there are many following to see the ending, almost like a soap opera. I guess people like a story line with suspense.

If I was the Product Manager, I would recommend trying to promote the product in a way that may show something positive to catch all ages, like maybe sponsoring something important to many people of all generations. Try showing how buying your product has helped the communities or something that matters.
